it’s kitty post time (^.^) sorry dog people..

Beautiful Cats

Ragdoll
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
"Ragdolls are large, loving, laid-back longhairs with beautiful, big blue eyes. Ragdolls adore their humans. They run to greet you at the door, follow you from room to room, flop on you, sleep with you, and love you. They are gentle, carefully avoid scratching people, and are good with children, the elderly, and dogs. Ragdolls tend to be floor cats, not jumpers. They feel that humans prefer purrs to yowls, and keep their voices softly musical."

Somali

"The Somali is a breathtaking cat to behold. It bears an uncanny resemblance to a little fox, with its large ears, masked face, full ruff and bushy tail. Somalis are intelligent cats, and while active, they have soft voices and are usually quiet. They communicate with human family members through soft mews and possess a charming trill. They are extroverts and very social. Possessed with a zest for life, they love to play, solicit nuzzles and pats, and thrive on human companionship. Many Somalis can manipulate faucets, and they love to play with water."

Birman

"The Birman cat is believed to have originatedin Burma, where it was considered sacred, the companion cat of the Kittah priests. There is a legend as to how the Birmans developed the colors they are today: “Originally, the guardians of the Temple of LaoTsun were yellow-eyed white cats with long hair. The golden goddess of the temple, Tsun-Kyan-Kse, had deep blue eyes. The head priest, Mun-Ha, had as his companion a beautiful cat named Sinh. One day the temple was attacked and Mun-Ha was killed. At the moment of his death, Sinh placed his feet on his master and faced the goddess. The cat’s white fur took on a golden cast, his eyes turned as blue as the eyes of the goddess, and his face, legs and tail became the color of earth. However, his paws, where they touched the priest, remained white as a symbol of purity. All the other temple cats became similarly colored. Seven days later, Sinh died, taking the soul of Mun-Ha to paradise.” "

Ocicat

"This magnificent spotted cat never fails to steal the show, not to mention the hearts of those fortunate enough to own them. The Ocicat is an agouti spotted cat of moderate type. Originating from interbreeding of Abyssinian, Siamese and American Shorthair, it is the only spotted domestic breed selectively bred to emulate the cats of the wild. "

Is there such a thing as an ugly cat?

Meet the Sphynx
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

"In 1966 a domestic cat gave birth to a hairless kitten in Toronto, Canada. It was discovered to be a natural mutation and the Sphynx cat, as we know it today, came into existence. This cat and a few other naturally hairless cats have been found worldwide. These have magically been produced by Mother Nature and are the foundation for this unusual breed. Cat breeders in Europe and North America have bred the Sphynx to normal coated cats and then back to hairless for more than thirty years. The purpose of these selective breedings was to create a genetically sound cat with a large gene pool and hybrid vigor. This is a very robust breed with few health or genetic problems.
Some people who suffer from cat allergies can tolerate living with Sphynx cats. However, depending on the type and severity of the individual's allergic reactions, there are still people who cannot live with this breed."

Cuuuuuute! Especially the Somali fox-like one and Anubis as I said before haha So is he yours or your brothers? Make up your minds :P I've had lots of cats but none of them adored me :( They adored my brother, my mother (who hates cats), and everyone else 'cept me. They're such snobs but that's why I love them :P So, what's the "Sharaziya" cat called in English? By the way I'm thinking of getting a kitten as soon as I'm done redecorating my room but my mom won't let up. She keeps on saying they'll make me infertile or barren or whatever the word is :/

Well D’n’G, Technically he’s mine, but my brother loves him so much he likes to think of Nubie as his own! To tell u the truth they love each other so much I don’t have the heart to tell him not too :) Besides Poseidon is my brother, so technically, he’s mine too .. so what difference does it make ha! :P lol
Cats are snubs! And notice that the cats like ur mom who hates cats .. that’s cuz cats can’t comprehend the idea that someone doesn’t like them so they “yit7arishon feehom” lol.. oh yeah and there “musla7chia” too. Try trading affection with food :P it works!
Sheerazi is called “Persian”. But there not too cute, they have squashed faces like they’ve been hit in the face!! I’ll post a picture for u if u like :)

One more thing concerning cats:
“Dogs come when you call. Cat’s take a msg and get bk to you later!” (^.^)

D&G that is a myth. Cats do not, I repeat: they DO NOT cause infertility in women.

The only thing from reality that comes close to it is that vets advise pregnant women not to be responsible for changing the kitty-litter, and this is because IF the cat was infected with a parasite due to eating raw meat, scavenging from garbages, and allowed to hunt rodents, it could cause something caulled taxoplasmosis, which is some kind of blood disease I think. However, it is often the cause that a grown woman is immune to this disease, and the only concern is that it would be passed to the fetus which would not be immune to taxoplasmosis, thereby being prone to birth defect and other sad things :(

Gigi, knowledgably :P

P.S. Don't just take my word for it. Check out this pretty good article from the New York Times entitled "The Claim: Pregnant Women Should Avoid Cats. Really?" :)

(hehehe it7issoon! Ma artha 3ala ligtawa ;P And I've been through my own battles convincing my mom! hehehe Knowledge is Power, so don't give up D&G a cat is a bundle of joy :D Good Luck!)

Interesting! thanks for the biology lesson GiGi, I really didn't know that .. I loved cats too much to find out something bad about them .. so I just didn't trust anything I've heard .. I'm glad it's just a mid wive tale :)

Ever since I was six I've been sneeking cats into our house lol .. untill I got a kitten from a girl who got sick and was admitted in the hospital .. so when my mom found out about the cat I couldn't return it .. and by the time the girl was out .. my mom was in love with the kitten lol .. and that's how I got my first cat .. Claude :)
I'm not suggesting you do the same D'n'G but it's a thought lol
